Been driving to New Orleans for a month to see my mom at the hospital. She had a stroke. Doing better, but has a lot of trouble understanding how to take care of herself.

Im a small town suburb person, so cities intrigue me, even though I been to Orleans before, just not from atop a 6 story parking garage. If you want a un-resized picture let me know.

There’s a old car I found at the bottom of this post. I wonder what it is :)

Kinja'd!!!

View of the top of the hospital. Neat clouds and window reflections

Kinja'd!!!

Skyline at night. Picture kind of crooked, because of the parking garage isnt level.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Falstaff building. Popular landmark in N.O.

Kinja'd!!!

Superdome...I mean the Mercedes Benz Superdome :) and Smoothie King center in front.

Kinja'd!!!

Old power plant. Hard to imagine this survived so many hurricanes and hurricane Katrina.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Tallest buildings in N.O. at dusk.

Kinja'd!!!

The Crescent City Connection

Kinja'd!!!

Patriotic :D

Kinja'd!!!

The whole skyline from last night.

Kinja'd!!!

And saw this old car at the entrance when I walked by. I want to say its a Chevrolet, but my pre WWII car knowledge isnt good.

New Orleans has some cool cars. Saw a bright orange Lamborghini Gallardo pass me up on the highway, new Porsche 911, and a Maserati Quattroporte. Not to mention the streetcars on St. Charles street. Couldn’t take a picture I was driving.

New Orleans is only about 2 hours from me. Only been there a few times though. Is she at Oschner’s or somewhere else?

A number of those high rises stand empty now. Katrina caused a bunch of damage, some by water infiltration, a lot more by essentially sandblasting the windows on one side. Looters came in and stripped much of the wiring before the national guard came in. The empty ones were deemed too expensive to repair and be put back to their former use given how long it would take for the population to come back. It’s sad to see the husks just standing there.

I know Cresent city tower is empty. Building on the left on top picture. Good real estate right there for a new skyscraper. Its between the superdome and downtown

Go check out the abandoned Six Flags if you get a chance. I don’t condone trespassing but if you do get in, it’s very, very neat. But I don’t condone it. But it is neat. You get what I mean.
